Daughters of Clay – Filhas do Barro

On the island of Santiago, Cape Verde, the last generation of women continue preserving a centuries-old ceramic tradition. Passed from mother to daughter for generations, this craft has sustained their families, identity and culture for centuries. As migration and modernization reshape the region, this way of life is slowly disappearing. Through intimate observations of their daily labor, the film explores the profound bond between these women and a tradition that may soon be lost forever.
